About the experiment

In 2021, 3000 of inhabitants of Brussels decided to participate to "CurieuzenAir" : the largest project aiming at measuring the air quality (the NO2) in the Belgian capital.

This Citizen Science campaign had a big impact and, subsequently, the city of Brussels decided to install fixed NO2 captors in order to regularly map the NO2 level throughout the city.

Inspired by CuriezenAir , the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy decided to make its own experiment, which consisted to measure the concentration of NO2 experienced by a biker in the traffic.

According to The Bulletin, 48% of Belgian population uses a bicycle.

The question is: is a biker really exposed to a lot of pollution in the city of Brussels?
